Your day trip to Alexandria will begin with a convenient pickup from your hotel, followed by a drive to the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa - the largest Roman cemetery in Alexandria consisting of three levels carved out of rock. From there, you will visit the Roman Amphitheater and see the sunken monuments of Alexandria, discovered under the East Harbor.
You will also stop for a photo at Pompey's Pillar, a monument constructed in honor of Emperor Diocletian. Then, head to the impressive Library of Alexandria, the largest library in the world with over 8 million books. Explore the open court and see the statues of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy I, both of which were found underwater nearby.
Don't miss the opportunity to visit the library's manuscript museum, President Saddat Museum, and Impressions of Alexandria Museum. Note that the library is closed on public holidays.
Afterward, the car will take you to the Church of St. Mark, the oldest church in Africa, where you can admire the historic downtown and its beautiful baroque-style architecture with Italian and French influences.
